Common questions
What containers can I use?
Just about any clean, dry container you already own — an old shampoo bottle, a mason jar, a squeeze bottle, a growler for the big-batch crowd. We weigh (tare) your empty container first, then you fill it and only pay for what goes in. If you'd rather not bring one, we sell sturdy refillable jars and bottles at the shop, and we keep a stash of donated jars up for grabs too.
Do they need to be clean?
Yes, please — clean and fully dry. A little leftover water or old product can throw off the fill and, honestly, nobody wants yesterday's conditioner mingling with today's dish soap. Give it a rinse and let it dry, or run it through the dishwasher the night before. If a container shows up with soap still clinging to it, we'll ask you to give it a quick wash at our rinse station before we fill.
How does the pricing work?
Everything at the fill stations is priced by weight — by the ounce — so you pay for exactly what you take, whether that's a two-ounce top-up or a full gallon jug. We tare your empty container, you fill, we weigh it again, and the difference is what you owe. Bars, blocks, and other package-free solids are simply priced per item. Current per-ounce prices live on the refill menu.
What if I forget a container?
No trip wasted — it happens to the best of us. We keep clean refillable jars and bottles for sale at the counter, plus a free "borrow bin" of donated containers when we have them. Grab one, fill it, and you're set. (Bonus: now you've got a refill container ready in the car for next time.)
Do you take jars back?
We do — that's the heart of our deposit-jar system, and it's the tidiest way to refill without owning a single container yourself.
Here's how it works: grab a clean deposit jar from the shelf and pay a small refundable deposit on top of your fill — currently $2 per jar. It's yours to use however you like. When you're done, bring the empty jar back (a rinse is appreciated, not required) and we'll either refund your deposit or roll it into a fresh, sanitized jar for your next refill. No receipt needed — we track deposits at the register.
Every returned jar gets washed, sanitized, and put back into rotation, so one jar can do this dance dozens of times. Prefer to keep a jar you love? No problem — just don't bring it back and the deposit simply stays with the jar. Deposits are for our standard refillery jars; containers you bring from home don't carry a deposit at all.
What do you stock?
Home and personal-care staples you'll actually reach for: dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion at the fill stations. On the shelves you'll find package-free solids like bar soap, shampoo bars, and dish blocks, plus a small lineup of reusables — jars, brushes, and other eco goods to get you set up. We restock and rotate scents often, so the shelf keeps things interesting.
Do you ship?
We don't ship nationwide — hauling liquid refills across the country in cardboard rather defeats the whole "tiny waste" idea. Instead, order online for local pickup at the shop or local delivery within our area (roughly a 10-mile radius). Browse everything on the shop page and choose pickup or delivery at checkout.
Any ingredient or allergen info?
Absolutely. Every fill station has an ingredient card with the full list and the scent, and we're happy to read labels with you or pull up the details at the counter. If you're sensitive to a particular ingredient or fragrance, we stock unscented options and can point you toward them. When in doubt, ask — we'd rather help you find the right match than have you guess. For specific medical or allergy concerns, please check with your doctor before use.
What's your return and refund policy?
Because refills are filled fresh into your own container, we can't take those back once they leave the shop — but if something's wrong with a product or a fill, tell us and we'll make it right, no fuss. Unused package-free solids and shelf goods can be returned within 30 days with proof of purchase. Deposit-jar deposits are always refundable when you return the jar (see the deposit question above).
